  • Most families are New Yorkers who leave the city for weeks or months at a time during the summer. This time of the year, they need childcare help from young women who can drive, swim, and stay energized throughout the day chasing children!

Placements take place in many surrounding summer towns. Each town has a handful of other nannies to explore and spend days off with.

  • Yes. On most occasions, nannies will live in the family’s guest bedroom.

  • These families understand that you need time to recharge after working long summer days with kiddos and are happy for you to explore new places. Nannies get 2 days off per week, and these two days are determined by the family. They are not always weekends.

Because this is such a short term role, “Vacation time” is not allowed. Week long trips or vacations are not granted, as you are expected to be present the entirety of your summer role.

  • Every scenario is different depending on the size of the family and the number of hours. If selected, The Nanny Agreement will spell out these details before the formal hire.

  • The school calendar in New York is a bit different than that most colleges go by. The children are in school through Memorial Day, and most summer travels happen in July and August. The kids do not go back to school until Labor Day.

Majority of placements start mid-June and last through late-August. We understand this can be tricky with returning to school and recruitment obligations. We are able to provide a proof of employment for your chapter.

  • We understand that you (and your parents!) will be anxious to secure summer plans early on, but please understand the difference in these regional calendars. Many families do not start thinking about summer plans until March. Excellent placements have been made as late as late May! Please understand these logistics up front that placements take time.

  • Applications for Summer 2026 open January 1.
Start preparing now by updating your resume with any childcare experience and connecting with past Nanny Network nannies to learn more about the role and see if it’s the right fit for you.
